2. What Remains

This series of still life paintings explores childhood memory, grief, absence, friendship, and family relationships.

Using the compositional effects of chiaroscuro, I stage items that have survived to tell their stories of the past. I seek to convey the physical presence of form in space through intense light and shadow, thereby emphasising the emotional need to keep a memory alive, to keep present in my life those who are absent.
